Richard James Ramussen, formerly of Scottsbluff, NE, passed away August 10, 2008 in Tucson, Az. after a short illness. Richard was born in Oxford, NE. April 7, 1927 to Thor and Mamie Rasmussen. They moved from Oxford, NE to the homestead in eastern Co. As a young boy he helped his father on the ranch. At the age of 14, he left the ranch to complete his education in Kimball, Ne. He found a job servicing the school furnace to pay for his room and board while attending High School. At the age of 15 he heard the true Word when two ministers brought the gospel to there area and Richard took a stand to serve God. He met Patricia Flynn when he was 19 and they were married on Dec 7 1941. While living in Scottsbluff, Richard worked for Art Bressler and Wayne Eislie, where he helped rebuild the Weber building after it was destroyed in the fire. Six of his seven children were born at this time. In 1962 the family moved to Cheyenne, WY. where their seventh child was born. Richard worked in construction and cement finishing until 1969. He moved his family to CO. and went to work at the Climax Mine in Leadville . He retired in 1985 and worked for the yellow pages in the Denver area to keep busy. In 1998 he quit working to take his grandson Trent to Alaska to visit his sister Lois at their homestead. Richard and Patricia then split their time between Denver and Tucson, AZ. living with their daughter Amy during the winter months. He was very proud of his seven children and his twenty-one grandchildren along with eight great -grandchildren. He found great joy in his later years when his grandchildren would come and visit he and Patricia and enjoy Sunday dinners together. Richard was preceded in death by his two sisters Lois Calvin and Marie Rasmussen. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann, their children Steven James of Elizabeth, CO. Terry Clay of Thornton, CO. Amy Zahorka of Tucson, AZ. Diane White of Carbondale, CO. April Carlson of Scottsbluff, NE. Sharon Byers of Parker, CO. and William Dean from Highlands Ranch, Co.
