Richard (Dick) Solheim, age 68, of Lone Tree, Colorado passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Skyridge Hospital in Lone Tree. Dick was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, on March 12, 1947, the son of John Russell and Aileen (Hall) Solheim. His natural leadership qualities were apparent early on as he served as both Student Congress and Student Council President of his high school. He graduated from Boone High School, Boone, Iowa in 1965 and later graduated from Iowa State University in 1969. On February 24, 1968, he married Lynn Coghlan at the First Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa. He had a very successful career in Mortgage Banking for more than 40 years. He was responsible for leading some of the largest mortgage companies in America including Security Pacific, Denver, Colorado; and Mellon Mortgage both in Denver, Colorado and Houston, Texas. He began his career as a teller at Hawkeye Savings and Loan, Boone, Iowa while still in school. He worked for Peat, Marwicke, Mitchell Accounting Firm, Chariton Savings & Loan, Chariton, Iowa, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Company (Freddie Mac) in both the Chicago, Illinois and Dallas, Texas Offices; Columbia Savings and Loan, Denver, Colorado; and G E Mortgage, Denver, Colorado. In 2003, he started his own company, Accupost CS in Highlands Ranch, Colorado which was later sold to Trans Union Settlement Services. He was currently Chief Administrative Officer for LenderLive Network in Glendale, Colorado. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1969-1975. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association and a past Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association. He was currently serving as Treasurer for the Board of Governors. He served on numerous other boards and organizations related to the mortgage industry. Throughout his career he and his family resided in Boone, Ankeny, Chariton and Ames Iowa; Crystal Lake, Illinois; Dallas and Houston, Texas; and Centennial, Highlands Ranch, and Lone Tree, Colorado. He loved playing golf and racquetball and fishing with his son and grandson. He participated for several years in the Habitat for Humanity and Brothers' Redevelopment Paint A Thons. He received several of the top service awards for the CMLA from the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association. He was a kind, caring, much beloved Husband, Father, PaPa, boss and co worker. He will always be remembered for his cheerful, positive attitude and willingness to help. He always stated each day with a smile and a ""How you doing?"" He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Lynn of Lone Tree and son and best friend, Chris; daughter-in-law, Christine; and the ""light of his life"" grandson, Trevor all of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister Gini (Tom) Halliwell, Hayden, Idaho; brothers; Chuck (Tina), Eldridge, Iowa; Dennis (Melba), San Antonio, Texas; David (Jean), Alexandria, Minnesota; Ken, Phoenix, Arizona; and Keith, Bremerton, Washington. He is also survived by brother-in-law Larry (Bev) Coghlan of Boone, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick is predeceased by his parents, Russ and Aileen Solheim and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Nancy Coghlan. Dick was an organ donor. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Horan & McConaty, 5305 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado.
