Richard C. Spomer

Richard Chapin Spomer, 32, of Englewood, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at SkyRidge Medical Center. Richard was born to Dick & Susan Spomer on August 4, 1984. He was the youngest of three children, Julie, Dixie & Richard. He graduated from J.K. Mullen High School in Denver and later, the University of Colorado with a Fine Arts Degree. While in high school as well as college he participated in theater programs as well as choirs and acapella singing groups. Richard lived in Colorado most of his life as well as California for a short time. He loved the great outdoors and loved to climb the many ‘14ers’ Colorado offered. He also loved to travel. Richard was a member of a traveling ballet group that took him to Holland, Norway & Sweden. He also toured with a Broadway theater production of ‘American Girl’ group that took him to all 50 states and some places in Canada. Richard liked leisurely travel as well, experiencing places like Ireland, Scotland, Canada, England, Mexico & France. He loved to play golf. You would always find his golf clubs in the trunk of his vehicle or as part of his luggage when he traveled. If he had a few spare hours in his day you would always find him on a golf course or driving range or volunteering at the ‘International’ in Castle Rock. While traveling, golf was always on the itinerary. He worked for the Colorado Shakespearian Festival, Utah Shakespearian Festival during the summers while in college. After graduation he decided to move to California and worked in a lighting manufacturing company and that is where he found his passion in lighting. He needed the experience in pyrotechnics to pursue his career and went to work for Carnival Cruise Lines as a stage & lighting technician. After several years he moved back to Denver and found a job at the Pace Center in Parker where he was currently employed. Richard designed and built many stages including their current production of ‘Hairspray’ and was the Technical Director at the PACE Center. In his spare time, spending time with his family & friends was high on his priority list, whether it be cooking a good meal, hiking, movies, theater productions, barbecues, wine or beer tastings, zoo trips, etc., each adventure was special to him. Richard will be especially remembered for his quick wit, spirit of adventure, and the tenaciousness that allowed him to achieve top rankings in many diverse endeavors. Richard is survived by his parents Dick & Susan Spomer (Denver); sister Julia (Brighton); sister Dixie (Denver); nieces Jocelyn & Eryn (Denver); special friend Runoda (Brighton); special friend Jacqueline and her children Nicholae, Christian & Rena (Centennial); special friend Bill and daughters Madelyn & Jordan(Centennial); and numerous special aunts, uncles & cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents & numerous aunts & uncles.
