Richard Craig Tenney

December 27, 1926 — February 3, 2010

Richard C. Tenney, 83, died February 3rd, 2010, after a short illness, in hospice care at St. Andrew's Village, Aurora, where he resided with his wife Virginia (Taylor). He was born in Arlington, MA and served on the destroyer escort USS Dennis J. Buckley in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He graduated from Tufts University and earned an MBA at the University of Chicago. At the time of his retirement Mr. Tenney had his own healthcare consulting firm. He served on the board of Denver Hospice (when it was known as Hospice of Metro Denver), which oversaw his care in his final illness. He volunteered with the American Cancer Society Denver Chapter and with the Denver office of the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Mr. Tenney and his wife were active members of Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Denver. He was an avid photographer and he and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad. He is survived by his wife; son, Craig and wife, Nancy, of Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Kimberly and husband Christopher Levis, of West Roxbury, MA; daughter, Jennifer, of Austin, TX; grandsons, Peter and Tim Sebesta of Austin; and sister, Jay Tenney of Peabody, MA. The memorial will take place on February 20th at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew's Village, 13801 E Yale Avenue, Aurora CO 80014. Memorial donations may be made to The Denver Hospice, Alzheimer's Association of Colorado, or to a Colorado Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
