Mr. Richard Lawrence Valley passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018.
A native of Denver, Colorado, Mr. Valley was the son of the late Lawrence Michael Valley and Cecilia Octavia Dillon Valley. A 1938 graduate of Cathedral High School in Denver, he attended Colorado College before becoming a Brakeman and then Conductor with Colorado & Southern Railroad until his retirement in 1980. During World War II he served as a Navy Corpsman (Pharmacist Mate First Class) with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division in the Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and various unit and theater citations. He was in training to become a Naval Aviator when the war ended.
His siblings Dillon Valley, John Valley and Marilyn Valley Martin preceded him in death. He is survived by his two children Zee Sabin and Kerry Valley.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:00 AM, and a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel , 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80227. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 12:15 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
