Richard “Jeff” Widney unexpectedly passed away on July 1, 2023 in Lone Tree, Colorado surrounded by his family. Jeff was born on September 2, 1953 to Hilda Mae and Roderick Widney in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had a degree in Environmental engineering and worked in the Nuclear Industry at Rocky Flats Technology Site for 16 years and the Hanford Site at the Plutonium Finishing Plant in Richland, Washington for 18 years before retiring in April, 2018.
In 1997, Jeff met the love of his life, Juli Widney and they were married in September 2002 in Maui, HI. This became Jeff and Juli’s favorite place to visit as he was an avid golfer and he loved the golf courses in Maui, particularly the Plantation and Wailea Gold Courses. Our Hearts are broken as we mourn his loss.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Juli, son Scott Widney, Thornton, CO; Daughter Jaime Widney, Sahuarita, AZ; Stepdaughter Brooke Hager (Ryan) Keenesburg, CO; Stepdaughter, Bryn Preuss (Jesse) Parker, CO; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother Rick Widney and sister Amy Bradley (David). He was preceded in death by his daughter Jodie Robert, and his parents.
A Memorial Reception to honor Jeff will take place on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 11:30am - 1:30pm at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. Food and beverages will be provided for all attendees.
