Richard "Dick" Adams

November 13, 1941 — December 8, 2021

Littleton, Colorado

Richard ‘Dick’ Adams, 80 years of Littleton, CO passed away peacefully December 8, 2021, with family by his side at Littleton hospital.

Dick is survived by his four children; Rick (Ricia); Mike (Danielle); Tony (Melissa), and Sherri; 7 grandchildren, Jack, Matt, Kyla, Lauren, Drew, Will and Keegan.

Dick was born in Lewistown, Montana and raised in Hobson, Montana.  Dick was a proud husband, dad, and grandfather, affectionally knows as ‘Pop Pop’, as well as being a successful businessman working in the Insurance industry for over 30 years.

Dick is a 1959 graduate of Hobson High School where he was active in several sports and the 4H club and a 1964 graduate of the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. Prior to transferring universities, and while a student at Montana School of Mines in Butte, Dick was introduced to Peggy McManis and after courting her for a year, they married on September 11, 1965. They would go on to raise their four children together and building a strong home foundation of love, friendship, and family values.

Dick’s family always enjoyed his sharing of stories from his formative years growing up working on a farm, and working in the heartland of the US constructing highways and building missile silos in the late 50’s and early 60’s.  Dick built many lasting relationships through the years and was recently sharing how he has been exchanging Christmas cards with friends for over 50 years. Dick would go on to work in the Insurance industry working in California, Colorado, and Pennsylvania where he ran a claims organization for a fortune 500 company. Upon his retirement from working full time in 1999, Dick and Peggy’s next chapter had them returning to Colorado to be with family.

There wasn’t a project Dick would not take on nor was there a day he was not tinkering with something around the house. For those who have seen his garage, creativity is the only word to best describe what he built to store his many tools. Dick loved to lend a helping hand and would often be seen outside helping his neighbors and friends.

Both Dick and Peggy loved to host, having their children's friends and family over for meals or just to hang out. Dick and Peggy were the consummate fans of their children’s sporting events and could always be found on the sidelines of a field or the stands of a court. Dick became and truly embraced being a full-time grandparent attending so many of his 7 grandchildren's events from hockey, soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, lacrosse, and baseball, he was there quietly supporting and cheering them on. He and Peggy loved to attend their grandkids school events, band events and enjoyed his banter on politics.

Dick lived his life with humility, honesty, humor, and honor.  Dick believed in working hard and doing it right the first time. He believed in treating people with respect and with kindness. He was a loyal man who loved his wife and his kids.  His grandkids adored him, and all feel so lucky to have had him as a mentor, a guide, a cheerleader, and a friend.  We hope he knows his family will try to emulate his positive character and strive to be a good person like he was.

Dick was very dedicated to his Catholic faith and in supporting the parishes he and Peggy attended. Dick would volunteer as a Eucharistic minister at his parishes as well as helping Peggy volunteering and serving St. Frances Cabrini Church in many capacities since returning in '99. Dick’s parents were Eleanor (Tracy) and Arthur Adams, both deceased and he has two siblings, Mary Bean, husband Bob, along with brother Tom.

We have a new Angel in heaven and know Dick is now back reunited with the love of his life, Peggy.

There will be a private funeral service for Dick that will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Church.
