Rick Spires

Richmond Lane Spires III, affectionately known as Rick, Little Rick to his father, and Ricky to his mother, peacefully passed away at the age of 79 on February 8th, 2024, surrounded by his son Jeff and his wife Linda at their home. Born in Richmond, California, on May 14, 1944, Rick found his true home in Colorado, where family always held a special place in his heart. Alongside his younger brother Nicky, sister Cathy, and step-brother Andy Tiquet, Rick cherished the bonds of family throughout his life.

Following high school, Rick embarked on a professional journey as a draftsman, piping designer, and piping design technician after attending Polytechnical School, retiring in 2015.

On June 15, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda, and together they raised two sons, Jared and Jeff. Sunday spaghetti lunches at his papa’s became can’t miss Friday night gatherings with grandkids Cameron and Makenzie. An avid Denver Broncos fan, an unfortunate fan of Patrick Mahomes (much to Jared’s disdain), Rick found joy in camping, especially chopping wood, tending his garden and lawn, and wildlife, particularly lions in Africa, but above all, he cherished moments spent with his loved ones.

Rick was a dedicated prayer warrior, generously offering his time, talent, and treasure to the church he held dear. Despite his deep love for family, he found fulfillment in a small group alongside Linda, forming lasting friendships centered on their shared faith in Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife Linda, his brother Nicky, sons Jared and Jeff, and grandchildren Cameron and Makenzie. Rick's love for family extended to his daughter-in-law Chantal Spires, wife to Jared, whom he embraced as his own.

A service to honor Rick's life will be held on Friday, February 23, at Grace Chapel, commencing at 10:00 am. Ever early, we expect Rick to be watching from above and frowning on all who think being on time is actually on time.
