Rigney J. Sackley, Jr.

Rigney J. Sackley Jr. born May 19, 1925 left this life on February 11, 2016. He has left a very large hole in the world of his wife, Shirley Marguerite who shared 63 years of togetherness. He was proud to serve in the Air Force for 3 years during WWII working with a group under Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower. He computed the efficiency of fuel versus bomb load for the B-17 bombers and their crews in order to make it home to England. He spent 35 years working for GD Searle, an independent pharmaceutical company who originated the 1st birth control pill and is now part of Pfizer. He believed in guiding young men as a Boy Scout leader for seven years and was a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He believed in the NRA and the Second Amendment. He was always optimistic about any given situation and enjoyed the company of his two sons, Rigney J. Sackley III and Jeffrey W. Sackley as they grew into successful men. Rigney was one of 5 children of Alma Marie Sackley and Rigney J. Sackley Sr. Only the youngest child, Joan O'Shea survives. Three grandsons, Rigney J. Sackley IV, Braden Sackley, and Trenton Sackley will remember him well as a quiet man with a quick mind and sense of humor.
