Robert Orbano Balusong, age 76, died at his home in Northglenn, Colorado on June 29, 2019. The cause of death was aortic stenosis and non hodgkins lymphoma.
Born on June 9, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, he last lived in Northglenn, Colorado and worked for the Rocky Mountain News for 26 years before retiring in 2009. Robert served in the United States Marine Corp for three years, then enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for eight years, earning a Vietnam Service medal, and Silver and Bronze Service medals. While in the Army, he completed his High School Degree in Germany, and later earned an Associate's Degree in General Studies from Denver Auraria Community College in 1983. Robert was a true self-scholar whose interests included writing, music, photography and travel. He was known for being a kind, compassionate, intelligent, yet jovial man who loved learning and experiencing life to the fullest.
Survivors include: Peter Balusong, brother, Denver, Colorado; Laura (Michael Murray) Balusong, niece, Denver, Colorado and; William (Amy) Hennion, nephew, Thornton, Colorado.
Services with Military Honors will be held at 12pm, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Colorado. Please arrive 15 minutes early at Staging Area âAâ.
