Robert T. Bray

November 30, 1931 — April 2, 2017

Robert (Bob) T. Bray died peacefully in Porter Hospice in Centennial Colorado on April 2nd, surrounded by family. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, his family moved to Altoona Pennsylvania where he spent most of his childhood. Following his service in the Air Force, he earned a bachelors and masters degree at Penn State University. He then moved to California where he was awarded a Ph.D in Economics at The University of California, Los Angeles. In LA, Bob met and married his wife Barbara at St Paul the Apostle Church. He held a long career as a professor at Cal Poly Pomona where he taught thousands of students and engaged in economic research of a global focus. In these and other communities, he nurtured friendship and was known as a wonderful conversationalist. He is survived by his wife Barbara, as well as his daughters Rebecca Berens, Stephanie Varon, Nicole Bray, Danielle Schreiber and Annette Bray and his son Mark Bray. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Collin, Devin, Justin, Keaton, Alana, Megan, Serena, Kevin and Kiera. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Lorene and Roy Bray, his sisters Marie Farrell and Roseann Farabaugh and his brother David Bray. Bob Bray was loved and cared for by many and will be missed. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:oo PM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10850 Ohio Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90024. A Celebration of Life will follow at the family's home. Confirmation of attendance so the family may keep you informed as well as provide adequate refreshments may be sent to markbray@msn.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to St. Paul the Apostle Church; Cal Poly Pomona, College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences, www.cpp.edu/~giving; or National Park Foundation, www.nationalparks.org/support.
