Robert Howard Brown, age 76, passed away at Legend of Broomfield, Colorado, on Tuesday, December 24, 2018, from complications due to a traumatic brain injury. He was born July 5, 1942 in Long Island City, New York, to Marcelline Romaine Brown and Howard Raymond Brown. Bob was president of his high school class at Sewanhaka High School and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science and magna cum laude with a Master of Business Administration from SUNY Albany. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was awarded a commendation medal after serving for five years, reaching the rank of Captain.
Bob met the love of his life, Ann Caldwell, in eighth grade; they dated throughout high school and college and married on June 19, 1965, six days after receiving their undergraduate degrees from SUNY Albany. Bob and Ann lived in several cities while Bob was in the Air Force, including two and a half years in the Azores, Portugal, before settling in Columbus, Ohio for over forty years. Bob spent most of his career at William M. Mercer, Inc., as an employee benefit consultant before retiring in 2002. In the last years of his life, Bob and Ann moved to the state where Bobâs mother was born: Colorado.
Bob and Ann were active in the community, spending ten years volunteering weekly at the Columbus juvenile prisons and many years as Salesian Cooperators. Bob was also a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering in retirement with the Wounded Warriors. In his spare time he was an avid photographer, videographer, and artist. He also spent many hours in retirement fishing, playing mandolin, grilling at Notre Dame football tailgaters, and enjoying his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Caldwell Brown; his children Kirsten (James) Greco and Kevin (Mandi) Brown; his grandchildren Aidan Brown, Dylan Greco, Catelyn Brown and Christian Brown; his sister, Virginia (Vince) Francioni, and his brothers Dennis (Pauline) Brown and Joseph (Sally) Brown.
Services will be held at Legend of Broomfield on Friday, January 11 at 10:00 am, and a military service will be held later that day at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
