Robert Doyle Colvin

April 26, 1928 — April 19, 2018

Robert “Bob” Doyle Colvin Captain U.S. Navy, Retired Naval Aviator Born April 26, 1928 in San Francisco, CA to Easton Doyle Colvin and Johanna Coyle Colvin. Bob was raised in Albany, CA in a home built by his father. He entered the Navy from High School under the Holloway Plan - The Flying Midshipmen. He attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA for 2 years prior to going on Active Duty with the Navy. His Naval career spanned 33 years and multiple duty stations. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, his Master’s Degree in International Relations from Harvard, was a Fellow at Harvard in International Relations and was a Guest Writer for Rockefeller’s Commission for Critical Choices. He and his first wife Allice had 6 children in 9 years all while moving the family back and forth across the country from one duty station to the next. As a Naval Aviator Bob had over 500 carrier landings with more than half at night. Captain Bob retired from the Navy in 1979, and went to work for Koehring Corp in Wisconsin, and later worked for Trak International, finally retiring for good in his mid 70’s. After the death of his first wife in 1984, Bob married Judy Jo Kinzie, originally of Winona, MN in 1985. She was the love of his life and the best companion in the world for him. She took on his 6 children and all of the grand children and great-grand children as they came along. He loved her beyond measure! There was nothing he loved more than his wife Judy, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, teaching them new things, helping them experience the world around them. He taught them that “to whom much is given, much is expected” and they had been given much and needed to give back to those around them. He taught them to love life, truth and honor, to live life to the fullest, and to leave every place they were better than they found it. He was and is their hero. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Mary Allice Hall Colvin. He is survived by his wife Judy Kinzie Colvin of Tequesta, FL, sons Greg Colvin of Buena Vista, CO, Hal Colvin of Arvada, CO, Scott Colvin of Penrose, CO, daughters Lisa Colvin of Ft Bragg, CA, Beth Colvin of Oxford, WI and Johanna Christensen of Hurricane, UT, 9 grandchildren—Joey, Jolise, Hage, Danielle, Jesse, Christopher, Dallin, Eva, and Taisiya and 5 great-grandchildren-Andrea, Gracie, Brian, Liam & Sophia; nieces, nephews and dear friends. Captain Bob received his second set of wings on April 19, 2018 just seven days short of his 90th Birthday.
