Robert Hunter Comer Sr., was born in Warrenton, North Carolina June 23, 1935 the only child of Cecil Woodrow Comer and Edith King Comer. Soon after graduation from Norlina NC High School in 1953, he joined the Air Force. Bob was stationed in Biloxi MS and Alamongorda NM with the rank of Tech Sargent and served as an armament technician working with nuclear weaponry and air to air missiles during the Korean and Vietnam era. Sent overseas to England, he served at Skull Thorpe Air Force Base. Bob met his first wife Lynn in Kings Lynn Norfolk England. Their first two children, Bob Jr and Teresa Ann were born in England. In 1959 the family moved to Denver Colorado where Bob was stationed and taught at Lowry Air Force Base. The twins Laurie and Leslie were born on New Year's Eve of 1964 at Fitz Simmons Hospital. Throughout the 1960's Bob served in Denver, Colorado, Greece and Tampa Florida Air Force Bases and also started his automobile sales career. Based on his success with his small car lots, he left the Air Force to pursue the car business. Bob worked with Rosen Novak Ford, Bill Crouch Chrysler Plymouth starting as salesman to general manager to part owner of Bob Comer Dodge Country USA making his own television commercials. After Crouch Mercedes in Boulder he owned two Plaza Motors Colorado dealerships on West Colfax and Federal Blvd. Upon selling Bob became a wholesaler until retirement in 2008. As a young man Bob was quite the sharpshooter and pool shark gradually becoming an avid golfer having a home on the 13th hole in Perry Park and a townhouse at the Ranch on the golf course. He loved Colorado, loved to travel, saw quite a lot of the USA, had many weekenders at Lake Powell. Bob loved the Broncos and the Voice, especially enjoyed sharing the watching with his children and grandchildren when they came by. Bob met his present wife, Tylle Morris (affectionately called local Hairdresser Mother of two) in Denver in the 1980's and they were married in 1989. Bob and Tylle enjoyed movies, dancing, traveling, all holidays especially Christmas Eve when all the combined families of their children and grandchildren were all together. To some he was Bob, Dad or Daddy, to others Grampa, Gramps or Papa and he treasured them all. The joy the little ones (who are now the big ones) brought to Grampa and Gramma was Bob's treasure to the end. Bob is survived and loved by his wife, Tylle Morris Comer; son, Robert Hunter Comer, Jr.; daughters, Laurie Comer Stimley and Leslie Comer Leslie; step-daughter, Theresa (Alan) Morris Wagoner; stepson, Timothy (Shawnna) Morris; cousin, Claude (Betty) Jordan, and Allison Markovchick, Saba Comer & Alisha Keppel; grandchildren, Michael Comer, Robert Comer III, Jake Leslie, Zach Leslie, Jamie Lesllie, Anthony Comer, Ashley Stimley, Lane Wagoner, Natalie Graham and Benjamin Morris. Preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Edith, Aunt Cile, Cousin John Lee and daughter, Teresa Ann Comer. A public visitation for Bob will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 10-11AM. Funeral service to follow at 11AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel. A graveside service at Fort Logan National Cemetery will take plave at 1PM, after the funeral service.
