Robert W. Cox, Jr.

June 19, 1951 — February 9, 2013

Bob Cox passed away at his Hilltop home February 9th after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A 1973 graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in Architecture, Bob was a leader in Colorado's design community. He began his career at Charles Sink Architects, was a Principal at Gensler, and most recently was a Workplace Strategist for Herman Miller. Bob's curiosity and interest in the world around him was reflected in his global travels, love of books, and encyclopedic knowledge of music, art, and popular culture. Bob was both a perpetual student and a generous teacher who shared his knowledge and experiences with a lively sense of humor and a brilliant dry wit. His high standards were always evident, whether he was designing a new space or recommending a restaurant halfway around the world. Bob leaves behind Bruce Darby, his loving partner for the past 26 years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 16 at Trinity Methodist Church at 1820 Broadway in downtown Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Robert W. Cox, Jr. Memorial Fund, Project Angel Heart, 4950 Washington Street, Denver, CO 80216 (www.projectangelheart.org) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
