Robert James “Bob” Cunico passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 20, 2022.
He was born August 4, 1940 in Washington D.C. to John Cunico & Margaret Vittoria Boccaccio. He attended Archbishop Carroll High School where he played basketball and football, and went on to the University of Maryland on a football scholarship. After a knee injury ended his football career, he finished his education at business school.
On August 27, 1966 Bob married Mary Bond Muench in Washington D.C. with his brother, Reverend John Cunico officiating the ceremony. In their 55 years of marriage, they enjoyed raising their two daughters Cathy and Caren, traveling the globe, and spending time with their family and friends.
Bob worked at Joy Manufacturing as a purchasing agent, at Continental Airlines as a baggage handler, and at Highlands Ranch High School as a Special Education paraprofessional. He enjoyed coaching soccer, first with both daughters then with special needs youth. He also liked to camp, he loved to read and he was an avid sports enthusiast.
Survivors include Mary (wife), Cathy Benton (Kevin) - Jessica, Noah and Caren Schaffner (Jack) - Brandon, Mason, and Katherine Cunico Urbaniak (cousin). All residing in Colorado.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church followed by a light reception. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:15 pm.
