Robert (Bob) Daly, 87, of Broomfield, CO passed away on June 24th. Bob was born on March 5th, 1934 to Glen and Ruth Daly in Denver. He attended Denver North High School, and went on to become a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. After getting his start in midget racing, he moved to sprint car racing, and raced the Pikes Peak Hill Climb from 1960-1970. Bob would run the IMCA and Big Car Racing Association circuit, and was named Rookie of the Year in 1965. He was a consistent competitor with the club, running in Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Nebraska. At Pikes Peak, he finished in the top ten three different times, while going against some of the top competition in the country. Bob would eventually retire from racing to devote more time to his family. He married his wife Marilyn in 1966, and they remained happily married for over 50 years, raising four children: Wendy, Scott, Lanette, and Clint. A man of strong Christian faith, he would go on to be a founding member of Colorado Bible Church /Arvada Christian School that was located in Arvada CO from 1972-1987. Bob is survived by his wife and four children, as well as 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
