Robert L. Davis passed away November 30, 2015 at the age of 85. Dad struggled bravely through his journey with Dementia and has now found peace. He was born August 24, 1930 in Boulder, Colorado to Louis and Louise Davis. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Navy after his high school graduation and served in the Korean War until his Honorable Discharge in 1952. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Most of his career was spent with Lockheed Martin (aerospace division) until his retirement in 1990 up to Poudre Canyon after 30 years of service. After 20 years of adventures in Poudre Canyon (fires, floods, bears, rattle snakes, and great friends, etc.), Dad and Mom returned back to the city to be closer to family. He is survived by Pat (Tomich), his wife of 58 years, his daughter Norma, son Steve and wife Wendy, daughter Rona and husband Kelly. He has six grandchildren: Lachlan, Taylor, Michael, Daniel, Jason and Josh. He also has two great grandchildren: Miles and Mara. He is also survived by his best friend and faithful 4 legged companion - Onyx. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved ""his"" Poudre River. He enjoyed carving intricate wildlife pieces out of wood. He was also a serious collector of foreign coins and insulators over the years. He loved showing off his musical skills on his keyboard to all audiences. Later in his life he grew to love painting ceramics with his special caregiver and friend Priscilla and also acquired a love for his daily Starbucks (hot cocoa with carmel and a classic coffee cake). A family member lovingly used gruff, impatient, stubborn, curious, solitary & brilliant to describe this complicated man, very true words but in the end he was just a husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family. No immediate services will be held. ""God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you, and whispered, 'Come to Me.' With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best."" Memorial Donations in honor of Robert are suggested to: The Wild Animal Sanctuary 1946 County Road 53 Keenesburg, CO 80643
