Robert Dean Armstrong, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on February 23, 2025 at the age of 93. Born on August 2, 1931, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Cyril and Marie Armstrong, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Bob proudly served in the Iowa National Guard before joining the U.S. Navy, where he worked as an aviation mechanic on the USS Philippine Sea. He met and married the love of his life, June. After moving to Iowa, they started their family, and later relocated to Colorado in 1972. Bob’s career was diverse, including roles at Carnation Dairy, Coca-Cola, and Lorillard Tobacco, among others. He was a talented craftsman, excelling in woodworking, carpentry, auto mechanics, and artistry. A lover of the outdoors, Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, and serving as a Boy Scout Troop Master. He was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Harris Park Community.
Bob’s family was his greatest pride. He cherished his children, Terry, Gary, Brett, and Diane, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love, generosity, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, siblings, and many friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3103 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80227. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80219, followed by a reception at VFW Post 5061 from 12-4.
