LT. COL DURHAM, ROBERT GEORGE III ""BOB"" Robert George Durham, age 95 passed away on Wed. Aug. 17, 2016 at the home of daughter Deborah Durham-Mackey of Santa Clarita, CA. Robert Durham was born in Toronto, Canada July 9, 1921 to Robert J. K. Durham II and Lena Emily Hitchcock Neal. He was the third of four children and the Family's only son. The Durham family relocated to Chicago, Ill in 1925 when Bob was age four. During his childhood he showed aptitude for engineering and excelled in mechanical engineering throughout school. Upon high school graduation he was accepted to university: Illinois Institute of Technology. The pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree was temporarily halted with the onset of WWII, 1941 when he voluntarily enlisted in the US Army Air corps. His exceptional engineering talent landed him at Yale University in Connecticut. By age 22 he became First Lieutenant in the Army Air corps later known as the US Air Force. While stationed in Denver CO. Bob fell in love with Stephanie ""Stella"" Frank. They married in May, 1945. Their 43 year marriage produced five children. Wife Stephanie died Nov. 10, 1988 with husband Bob at her side. Throughout his many years as a Denver resident Bob gave generously of his time and care to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Denver Water Board of which he was a member and with wife Stephanie joined the school PTA where Bob was elected president. He was a corner stone in both the Denver and Westminster Colorado communities. In his later years Bob's children encouraged him to relocate to California to be near them. Bob moved to Santa Clarita CA. June 2013. He joined the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall the same month and shortly was introduced to Lois Beydler, a widow of 2 years. The couple courted for one year and Married on June 6, 2015. They enjoyed a loving relationship until Robert Durham's death on August 17th. Robert Durham shed light, love and dedication on every life and to every project he touched. He never ignored a plea for help and will be deeply and forever missed by his survivors: Wife: Lois Durham. Children: Holly Durham, Deborah Durham-Mackey, Robin Durham-Sullivan, Heather Durham-Janke, And Robert Durham IV; Grandsons: Evan Mackey, Eric Mackey and wife Stephanie's remaining family; Sue Frank, Kari Frank-Lambert and Sam Frank III.
