Robert Earl Dwyer

Robert Earl Dwyer was born September 7, 1955 in Storm Lake, Iowa and passed away April 30, 2019 at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, Colorado. Bob was the son of Eleanor and Earl Dwyer of Laurens, Iowa.

Bob attended Laurens High school and worked various job after school. He helped build elevators at several Iowa locations and also lived in Florida and worked on a commercial fishing boat. Bob was injured in an accident in 1983 and was transferred to Craig Hospital in Englewood Colorado for spinal injury rehabilitation. Bob was in Craig Hospital for 11 months. He quickly learned to love Colorado and adapted to being a quadriplegic. Bob was adventurous and never let his disability get in his way of living his life to the fullest. Having no children of his own he always found comfort in children. He was soft spoken and loved to teach children to not be afraid of people in a wheelchair. He had a special bond with children and always enjoyed being a part of their life.

Bob's siblings were Betty (Van Horsen) and James Dwyer (deceased), Mary Webster, Donna (Steward), Ruby (Klingborg), Bobette ""Bobbi"" (Rigby), Dawn (McKenna), and Harry Dwyer.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Earl Dwyer, mother Eleanor Dwyer, half-brother James Dwyer, and nephew Joel Rigby.

Bob was fortunate to have loving and exceptional people throughout his life caring for him. Two extraordinary ladies that will be forever be in our hearts are Joyce Wright, Bob's Home Health Care assistant for over 28 years. Joyce went above and beyond to help Bob feel normal and live such a happy life. Bob's great disposition was a direct result of the excellent care he received from Joyce. The second individual was Katherine Valenzuela who has lived with Bob for the past 12 years and provided such a happy safe living environment for Bob. Katherine always let Bob feel like he was in charge.

Memorial services honoring Robert will be Wednesday, May 8, 2019, 1:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014.
