Robert Gallegos

October 6, 1950 — May 11, 2021

Robert “Jim” Gallegos, 70, of Denver, CO, passed peacefully on May 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa and his four children: Ivy, Rebecca, Nicole and James, as well as 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was born in October of 1950, in Trinidad, CO, but lived in Denver, CO for the majority of his life. He was the fourth of Daniel and Lupita Gallegos’ ten children. After graduating from Westminster High School in 1969, he volunteered to serve his country during the Vietnam War.

He studied at Metropolitan State College for three years, before transferring to the University of Colorado. During this time, he worked to help troubled veterans upgrade their discharges, as well as sponsoring youth programs for the kids of his community. He graduated from University of Colorado with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had a long career in machining, manufacturing and maintenance engineering.

He was a published author, held a U.S. patent and had far too many hobbies and artistic outlets to mention here. He retired in 2008 and enjoyed working on his home, dining out, movies, tinkering in his shop and travelling.
