Robert 'Bob"" Heck

January 22, 1946 — May 20, 2013

Robert (Bob) Heck ""relocated"" from this world to heaven, May 20, 2013, at Porter Hospice Center in Denver, Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Dwight Heck, and parents-in-law, Jerome and Kathryn Wozny; Survived by his wife of 39 years, Phyllis Heck, children and spouses, Rob Heck (Michelle) and Tim Heck (Christine), (both TX), six grandchildren, (Mia, Presley, Kennedy, Jamison, Carsten, and Jemma, brother Ray Heck (Patty) (KY), In-laws Jerry Wozny (CA), Mary Wozny (CA), Carol (Terry) O'Donnell (NE) and nieces, Jennifer Miller (Curt) Erin (Ryan) Pellizzari (CA), Colleen Wozny (CA), Paul O'Donnell (IL), Philip (Emily) O'Donnell (CO), and Alex O'Donnell (NE). Bob Heck loved life and lived it joyfully with a strong faith in Jesus. His passion was singing which he inherited from his father, Dwight, and his deep baritone voice was heard weekly at his parish, Our Lady of Lourdes. He also sang for over 16 years with the Mountain Bell Singers. He had a great love for opera and sang with Opera Colorado for 5 years. Bob served his country 4 years in the U.S. Navy (E-4). While on shore leave in Sydney Australia, he attended an opera and 'decided' to become an opera singer -- which he did do. Bob's gregarious nature was evident in having no fear to engage people in conversations anytime, anywhere. His humor (mischief?) was enjoyed by all as he loved to be around people. He never did become Politically Correct, but spoke his mind in no uncertain terms. After the Navy, he drove semi-trucks at Fashion Bar for 24 years, where he met Phyllis, by accident, as it turns out. They had two sons, Rob and Tim. He loved spending time with his boys doing all-boy games. He also spent as much time as possible watching his grandchildren, who called him Pappa. He later drove 22 years for the USPS and was due to retire at the end of 2013. He drove over one million miles, accident-free. He was also a true Bronco fan, never missing a game on TV. He loved the Lord Jesus, music, driving, food and his beautiful wife Phyllis. He blended his passion for music, outgoing nature and spiritual commitment to Christ into a ministry of singing to any and all, whether in the lobby of a hotel or at a formal concert. Bob loved Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. He was an Eagle Scout and attained the Order of the Arrow and God and Country awards. He encouraged his younger brother, Ray, who followed in getting his Eagle. Later, he and his wife Phyllis would visit Estes Park as often as possible and relax by the Thompson Creek. Frequent family reunions with his wife's family were also held at the YMCA of the Rockies, with side trips to Grand Lake. Bob was a food connoisseur, especially when it came to chicken (fried, his favorite), potatoes (mashed by hand -— his hands) and donuts (he knew the best places). He enjoyed 'preferred seating' at one of his favorite haunts, Gunther Toody's, where he often met his friend Tom Miller for breakfast. God blessed him with a love for others allowing him to know many people and their stories. Another passion of his involved cars -— he kept them in pristine shape and loved to drive all kinds. He liked to tease and often took on different personas to fool his mother-in-law (an easy mark) and others over the phone. Bob had a great smile and presence -- you always knew Bob was ""in the house."" He will be truly missed by his family, friends and coworkers. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, May 25, 10:00 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 2200 S. Logan St. Denver, CO 80210. INTERMENT: Tuesday, May 28, 11:15, at Fort Logan Cemetery, Staging Area ""C"", 3698 S.
