Robert Holmquist

Robert Holmquist peacefully passed away to his heavenly home with Jesus on December 17, 2024, at the age of 96. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jean Holmquist; father, Ruben Holmquist; mother, Catherine Holmquist; sister, Lois Barry. He is survived by son, Mitchell (Lori) Holmquist; daughter, Marci Holmquist; stepson, Mike (Myrna) Kneale; granddaughter, Stephanie (Nick) Smith; great-grandson, Nathan Smith. 

Robert was born to Ruben and Catherine Holmquist on May 10, 1928, in Red Wing Minnesota. As a child, he loved playing sports and swimming and later he helped his grandparents, then parents store “Holmquist”. He attended Tarkio College then graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. 

He served in the Korean War and was stationed in Washington, DC. After receiving an honorable discharge, he moved to California where he met his first wife, Judith Minning, the mother of his two children, Mitch Holmquist and Marci Holmquist. They moved to Colorado where he lived for over 65 years. He retired from Young’s Drugs Company where he worked for more than 30 years. He loved spending time with his children camping, fishing and going to many sporting events, including Bronco’s and Rockie’s games. He was a member of Clear Lake Camping Club where he enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife, Jean, and many friends and family. Bob will be deeply missed by all that knew him. His legacy of integrity, kindness and sense of humor will live in the hearts of those lives he touched.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2025, 11:30 a.m., Horan McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. Visitation will take place one hour before the funeral and interment and Honors will be at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Following services, a reception will be held at Bridge Church at Bear Creek, 3101 S. Kipling St., Lakewood, CO.
