Robert James Watkins

Robert James Watkins, Age 72, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away on August 16, 2024.

Robert was born on July 8, 1952 in Logan County Kentucky, the son of Lawrence Watkins and Jimmie Elizabeth Richardson Watkins. Robert was the eighth of 14 children.

Robert lived a life of service. He joined the Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. Robert then worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 2020.

Robert married Janet Cearley on October 6, 1982. They were married for 41 years and had three children.

Robert loved reading Louis L’Amour stories, watching westerns, camping and time in the outdoors, sports, working on cars, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached his daughter’s softball team and his grandson’s soccer team. 

Remaining to honor his memory are his wife, Janet; his children, Kimberly, Brandy, Elizabeth, and Catherine; his sons-in-law, Edward and Justin; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Fiona, and Ronan. Preceding Robert in death are his parents and his son, Robbie.

A memorial service and interment will be held on Friday, September 6th at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Buckley Space Force Base Honor Guard.
