Dr. Robert Kline passed away on October 16, 2017 from pneumonia and complications of Alzheimerâs Disease. He was born in Marble Rock, Iowa on February 20th, 1924. He attended schools in Norway, Hudson, and Laurel, Iowa, where his dad was the superintendent of schools. While working at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, he entered the U.S. Army Infantry at Fort Jackson in Columbus South Carolina in 1943 and marries his high school sweetheart, Thelma Lucille Kline. He served during the snowiest, coldest winter in the Ardennes Forest in Germany and was captured as a prisoner of war in the Battle of the Bulge. He Received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart Metal, and other Military honors. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He then entered Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Upon Graduation, he practiced in Melbourne, Iowa and Fort Collins, Colorado before retiring to his ranch in Lyons, Colorado. Robert was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge of Melbourne, Iowa and the CVMA Association of Veterinary Science, as well as a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW, and later the association of Ex-POWS. He enjoyed sports, hunting, golfing, boating, and piloting an airplane. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wynona Agusta Hartman; his father, Elbert Eugene Kline; his stepmother, Edna Huston Kline; his two sisters, Elizabeth Beasly and Ruth Cole; his baby brother, James Kline; and his wife of 72 years, Thelma Lucille Kline. A dedicated family man, he leaves behind two daughter, Dr. Lucia Miller of Denver, CO and Ms. Bobette Holliday of Loveland, CO; two grandchildren John (Kelly) Holiday of Loveland, CO and Sara Miller of Longmont, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. No formal services will be held. A private family internment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at a future date.
