Our Hero , Robert William Larsen, 92 of Broomfield, Colorado died Monday June 27, 2022 at Villagio of Broomfield Assisted Living. Visitation will be at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home 9998 Grant St. Thornton, Colorado 80229, July 22, 2022 4pm-6pm. Graveside Services will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Bob was born in Minnehaha, South Dakota, on September 4, 1929 to William and Erma Larsen. He graduated from high school in 1947. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1948, but he found life on a destroyer was not for him. He wanted to continue serving America. He decided to join the U.S. Army in 1951. While in Basic Training Bob was offered an “excellent” opportunity, although he was given no details. Even though uncertain about this mysterious opportunity he decided to accept. He quickly found it was a chance to train in counter-intelligence. He passed the training, and excelled in his role with counter-intelligence. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1953. He continued to serve America, the country he loved, in the Army Reserves, until he retired as a Colonel on September 4, 1989.
While in the Army Reserves, he continued to live a full life. He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree. He worked at Lockheed Aerospace until he retired in 1990. He met the love of his life Laurette Cecilia, and had 50 years of marital bliss. He traveled throughout the United States and abroad, and even met his godson, Cecil, who lives in Hong Kong.
Bob is preceded in death by his mom and dad, and his lovely wife Laurette. He is survived by his Daughter Debra Petersen and his grandsons Todd Larsen and Daniel Larsen. He is also survived by his granddaughters Jenifer Vittoria and Nicole French, and his Great grandchildren; Kaley Vittoria, Kyle Vittoria, Jacqueline Larsen, Dylan Larsen, Pearl French and Cyril III French. His family and friends will miss Bob very much.
