Robert Laster

September 18, 1931 — June 2, 2023

Denver

Our beloved “Uncle Bob” joined the love of his life LaVenda in Heaven on June 2.

Robert was born in Vivian, Louisiana.  He was a tank driver in the Marine Corps and a true patriot - Bob was always proud of his service for his country.    He graduated from University of Texas at Austin, where he not only earned his degree in Sociology, but more importantly, he met and married LaVenda – his true love and soul mate.

He and LaVenda lived in Texas and California before settling permanently in Denver, Colorado, where they brought smiles to everyone around them.   Bob spent his career working for the City of Denver as a tax assessor.  He later worked in a private tax business.

Bob lived a full and happy life.    He had a charming personality and had a wonderful circle of lifelong friends.   Bob made friends wherever he went.   Bob loved dancing and was the most popular man at all the family weddings and parties.   He was blessed to have his best friend Stan and Stan’s wife Mary.   Their friendship lasted over fifty years.

Bob was a proud member of the Elk’s Lodge where he enjoyed dancing and spending time with his many friends.  Showing his great love for the USA, Bob wrote articles for “The Bugle” for his Elk’s Lodge related to American History and patriotism.  A life-long lover of Texas and Texas music, Bob spent years attending the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame awards event.  It is held in Carthage, Texas, LaVenda’s hometown.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife LaVenda Laster, and his brother Clarence Clayton Laster, and his sister-in-law Irma Marie Laster (House).

He is survived by his nephew Cary Laster (wife Jeannie Laster), nephew Grady Laster (wife Linda), as well as grand-nephews and -nieces Paul Laster, Madeline Biasiolli, Michelle Vignon, and Jennifer Blackstone, and his beloved friends Stan and Mary Wagner, and Russ and Cathy Jones.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2:00pm, Staging Area A, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver.

Please share memories and condolences with Bob's family by signing the Tribute Wall.
