Robert J Lewis

September 17, 1930 — October 10, 2024

Parker

Robert J. Lewis went home to be with the Lord on October 10th, 2024 at the age of 94. Born on September 17th, 1930 to Luther and Bonnie Lewis in Mena, Arkansas, Robert was known for being a trailblazer in the cable television industry, a sports car enthusiast, a kind and generous spirit, a wonderful family man, and a devout follower of Jesus.

Robert moved to Oklahoma at age 6 where he grew up and attended the University of Oklahoma and became a life-long Sooner fan. There he met and married his wife Norma while they were both working at the local movie theater. Robert served in the Army Reserve and spent a two-year period serving in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Although he eventually was well-known for his career in cable television, Robert served a total of 25 years in the Army Reserve until retiring at the rank of major. It was while Robert was in college working for a movie theater that he kept hearing about community antenna TV, later known as cable television. Curious, he accepted an opportunity to manage a cable system in his hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Early on he sensed the growth potential of cable television and would eventually be known as a pioneer of the industry. A job with Cablecom General brought Robert and his family to Denver, Colorado. From there he was successful in expanding the Company's subscribers and negotiating major acquisitions and mergers. Robert also served as president of Jones Intercable and executive vice president of TCl and was known for his business acumen, expert negotiation, and kind leadership.

Robert was nationally recognized as a businessman but above everything, he was known for his generosity and his dedication to God and family. Robert prioritized family time, was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He took care of his immediate and extended family. He supported all eight of his grandchildren through education funds and even started funds for all 13, (soon to be 16) great grandchildren. He and his wife Norma gave generously and often to organizations they felt passionate about.

Robert leaves behind his wife of 74 years Norma, his son Michael Lewis, daughter Andra Stecklein and their spouses Catherine Lewis and Dean Stecklein, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother L. E. Lewis, sister Marjorie Canon and granddaughter Lacey Lewis. A celebration of life will be held October 30th at 10:00 AM at the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, 10150 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

lieu of flowers, contributions to the following charities in Robert's name would be appreciated: American Cancer Society, Children's Hospital.
