Robert ""Bob"" L. Luby, passed away peacefully May 9, 2016. Bob was born February 4, 1926 in Van Nuys, California. During World War II, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marines, serving three years in the Pacific Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marines, Bob moved to Denver, Colorado. In October 1950, Bob joined the Denver Police Department as a patrol officer, working his way up to division chief of the Traffic Division. He was instrumental in creating the department's Widows and Orphan Fund (now Denver Police Orphans' Fund), which provides financial assistance for higher education for the children of officers killed in the line of duty. In January 1951, he married Gwendolyn Bricker, the girl-next-door, by whom he is survived. He is also survived by sons Eric (Cindy) of Alabama, Michael (Maria) of California, Gregory (Tracy) of Colorado, and Daniel (Loraine) of Missouri, his brother, George, of Colorado, grandchildren Erica, Alexander, Lukas, Jennifer, Kimberly, Jessica, Jonathan, and Jeremiah, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Denver Police Orphans' Fund, or the Denver Police Museum.
