Robert A. Mullen died on January 17, 2022 in Denver at his apartment.

He was born in Alexandria, Minnesota, on April 28, 1922, the son of Hubert P. and Ida M. Mullen.

A former radio station manager, newspaper editor, marketing consultant and advertising agency owner, he spent the last several decades of his life as a freelance writer.  He and Mrs. Mullen traveled extensively throughout Europe, Mexico and Ireland.  For more than 40 years, they owned a home in San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.

He was a member of the Sigma Delta Chi, a professional journalism fraternity, and the Western Writers of America.  He was a member of the Phoenix Country Day School Board of Trustees during the school’s formative years.  He attended several state colleges in Minnesota as well as the University of Minnesota.  He served with the United States Amy Air Force during World War II.

He was predeceased by his son, Carter K. Mullen, who owned, operated and was President and CEO of Mullen Advertising & Public Relations in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was predeceased also by his beloved wife of 72 years, the former Lorraine R. Hedean of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is survived by their daughter, Robin Mullen Waldmann of Denver.   She is an artist, photographer, interior designer and travel guide to Mexico and Spain.  He is survived also by their son-in-law, Leonard F. Waldmann, an investment advisor in Denver.

Bob Mullen will be missed by many, and in preparing information for this obituary, he noted that he surely will be missed by the dove and duck of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico, because during his frequent hunting trips there, he missed many of them.
