Robert Philip ""Bob"" Ortlip

June 5, 1933 — July 6, 2017

Bob Ortlip, 84, passed away on July 6, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Clarence Robert Ortlip and Kathryn Estelle (Heron) Ortlip on June 5, 1933. Bob attended Penn State University and, after serving in the U.S. Army, graduated from Drexel University in 1958 with a Bachelors of Science in Accountancy. While at Drexel, Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Lee) Ortlip, and they married shortly after graduation. Bob embarked upon a career in finance and economic development that took him to Seattle, New York, St. Paul, and ultimately Denver. During his many years of international business travel, Bob survived a revolution in Trinidad, a trading mission deep into the Hindu Kush, and countless takeoffs and landings in Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Bob concluded his career with the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development of the City and County of Denver. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 58 years; his son Michael Ortlip and wife Allison of Charlotte, North Carolina; and grandsons Justin and Scott Ortlip, also of Charlotte. The family would like to thank the caring ICU staff of Sky Ridge Medical Center, the medical team at Parker Adventist Hospital, and the physicians of CCPC. The family also wishes to express gratitude and love to all of Bob's friends and neighbors whose support has meant so much to all. Bob will be interred at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236, at 11:30 am on July 21, 2017. Attendees should gather at Staging Area B by 11:10 am. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 pm on the lower level of the Heritage at Eagle Bend Clubhouse, 23155 E Heritage Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80016 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
