Robert Sungho Park

March 16, 1941 — September 20, 2015

Robert Sungho Park, age 74, died peacefully surrounded by family in Loveland, CO at 7:02am on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Born March 16, 1941 in Daegu, South Korea, he developed a healthy curiosity for knowledge and excelled in school, quickly becoming a top student in his classes. He went on to attend the prestigious Seoul University before being called to serve in the Korean Army in Vietnam. It was in Vietnam Robert worked alongside the US Navy and ultimately through bonds formed there, made his way to America, earning his M.S. in Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. At the request of his older sister, he came back to Korea to meet the woman who would become his wife of 41 years and the mother of his 2 children. He and his wife Janet would go on to spend the majority of their lives in the Denver Metro area where Robert independently worked as an engineer and contributed to the development of many subdivisions, retail fronts, and non-profits across the state over the course of his career. When not working, Robert could be found exploring the beauty of the Colorado Rockies, at Starbucks to read the latest from Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gallery, or with his nose in a number of books from the library (and most recently his iPad). He was an avid participant in the Korean community, often volunteering to provide his engineering services to local Korean churches and business owners. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving spent with his children to eat good food, share life stories and ""go shopping so long as Sujan pays"". He had an infectious smile and incredible ability to find humor, acceptance and the fight to endure any situation faced He is survived by his wife Janet Park (Aurora, CO), son Rocky Park (Bremerton, WA), daughter Susan Park (Issaquah, WA), sister and her 3 children (Daegu, Korea). Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10AM, Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. Lunch reception to follow shortly after the service at Hiro Japanese Buffet on 2797 S Parker Rd Aurora, CO
