Robert Allen Patchett was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven and fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 5th, 2022. Bob was born on March 22nd, 1933 to Glenn Wilson Patchett and Ruth White Patchett in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He accepted a position in Los Angeles, California, where through a mutual friend he met the love of his life, Eileen Conway. They were married in Queens, New York on January 16th, 1960, and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Bob entered and completed a Master’s Degree Program in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan. Bob had a long and successful career working within the Aerospace Defense industry and worked on many projects including modifications to the B-47 Bomber, the Gemini Space Program, the Tomahawk Missile Guidance System, space based missile defense systems, and space based military satellite communications systems to name a few. An interesting side note is that he managed to complete all the complicated mathematical calculations for projects in his early career, not with a calculator or computer, but a slide rule!
Bob was a dedicated and loving family man and he and Eileen raised three children Mary Catherine Ramsour, Esq., John Patchett, Col. USAF (Ret.), and Joan Patchett Andrews, M.D. He worked hard his entire life to provide a beautiful and love filled home for his family and wonderful educations for children. His greatest joy was found in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He truly was a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather and was dearly loved by his family.
Though our hearts are broken that his is no longer here with us, we find great comfort knowing with certainty that he is at peace in heaven and reunited with his beloved Eileen and all who have gone before him.
Bob is survived by his son John, daughter Joanie, sons-in-law Robert G. Ramsour and David Bryant Andrews, and grandchildren Anne, Abby and Grace Ramsour and Sarah, Catherine, and David Andrews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eileen, his precious daughter Mary Catherine Ramsour, his parents Glenn and Ruth Patchett and his brothers Jay Patchett and John Edward Patchett
Psalm 91:15-16
“He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
