Robert was surrounded by his loving family as he passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on January 30th, 2009. He was born in Flint, Michigan on May 2, 1928. He proudly served in the Army Air Force from 1945 to 1948. He married his sweetheart, Esther, in 1947. He was a loving father of son, Robert A and daughter, Gloria; a proud grandfather of Linda, Tammy, Art and Elizabeth; an adored great-grandfather of Gabriel, Adrian, Isaac, Andrea, Michelle, Robert M, Jenny, Alika and Brianna; an honored great-great-grandfather of Jayla and Isaiah and beloved uncle of Val, Tony, Jennifer, Angela, Sidney Blue, Colleen, Jonathon, Danny, Leeanne and Jason. He retired as a barber, first working at the Veterans Canteen Service and then owning Bob's Barber Shop. He went to clown school and enjoyed being Jo Jo The Singing Clown. He loved being a volunteer with the Senior Friends at North Suburban Medical Center, and volunteered over 4, 700 hours. He was a member of the American Legion for 53 years and a member of the Odd Fellows. He was a devoted sports fan, especially of the Denver Broncos. Robert will be remembered for his love of life, his beautiful poems and his passion for singing. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed. Visitation, Tuesday, 7-8pm; Funeral Service, Wednesday, 11:30am both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel 9998 Grant St. Thornton. Internment, Wednesday 2:15pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
