Robert ""Bob"" Riedel

February 27, 1944 — August 16, 2012

Robert Lee Riedel, ""Bob,"" passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2012. Robert was born in Hardtner, KS in 1944, attended Kansas State University, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. After college he farmed near Kiowa, Kansas for several years before moving to Texas and working as a real estate broker and developer. He later also became a general contractor of single family homes in both St. Louis and the Texas Hill Country. He accepted a position overseeing historic properties in Boston in 1998 and worked for six years in that capacity, eventually retiring and moving with his wife to Denver near the mountains he loved. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Suzanne Riedel. He is also survived by his five children: daughter Stephanie Johnson, her spouse David Johnson and granddaughter Logan Johnson; son Lance Riedel, his spouse, Kari Riedel, and grandsons Gabriel and Beck Riedel; son Travis Riedel, his wife, Kate Riedel, and grandson Tyson Riedel and granddaughter Blakely Riedel; daughter Robin Herman, her spouse, Kyle Herman, grandson Chandler Herman, granddaughter Emery Herman, and grandson Darson Herman; and son Bret Riedel, and his wife, Katie Riedel, and granddaughter Grace Riedel and grandson Landon Riedel; and three brothers, Gil, Rex, and Kirk Riedel. and their families. Bob loved many things, but first and foremost, his family, and second, flying single engine aircraft. He first received his private pilot's license at the age of 21. He also loved building, and creating beautiful things. Services will be held at St. Andrews Methodist Church at 9203 South University Boulevard, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126 at 11:00 a.m. on August 23, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations may be sent for those adversely affected by the Colorado fires at www.helpcoloradonow.org or by calling 1-866-760-6489 to find out which Colorado agency is in need of financial support from the fires.
