Son of Carl Arthur and Vera Rolander, Sr., both deceased. Bob attended McPherson grade and high schools were he excelled in basketball. Bob was active in Boy Scouts attaining the badge of Eagle Scout. To get this badge he identified over 150 species of birds, a hobby he followed throughout his lifetime. Bob attended the University of Colorado on a basketball Scholarship where he majored in business and finance. He was honored during his junior year, as an All Big 7 Basketball player. He was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity. He is a graduate of George Washington University Law School in Washington D.C. (night school) and received a LLB degree. While attending law school, he was a Door Keeper and elevator operator for the U.S. Senate at the U.S. Capitol building. Later he served on the staff of Members of the Congress. After graduation, he was admitted to the bar in both Washington, D.C. and Kansas. He then worked for the Federal Trade Commission until 1954 when he joined the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served in the Counter Intelligence Corps as legal advisor to the troops. He was stationed in Japan and played basketball for the All Army team. On one of his 30-day leaves, he made a trip around the world on MATS aircraft. Upon his discharge in 1957, Bob returned to Colorado where he worked in the Trust Department at Colorado National Bank. In 1959, Mayor Dick Batterton appointed Bob as the Administrator for Denver County Courts. During this time, Bob was active with the Denver Young Republicans Club in 1960, he was selected as the Republican Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, however he was defeated in the general election by Byron Rogers. From 1963-1992 Bob was employed at Public Service Company of Colorado as Lobbyist both in Washington D.C. and at the Colorado State House. Active in the community: Bob served on the Boards of: National YMCA, the Denver YMCA, Adult Care Management, Water for Colorado, The Lincoln Club, The Colorado Gold Hall of Fame, The Urban League, United Way, Denver Jr. Achievement and was a member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee to the Denver Water Board, and many others. He also was an active member of the Denver Press Club for many years. Honors: YMCA Hall of Fame, the Alumni Service Award from George Washington University, and McPherson High School Basketball Wall of Fame. In 1968 he married Florence Best, they were later divorced. Bob is survived by his wife, Marcia whom he married in 1978; Predeceased by Bill Dalan, his stepson, daughters, Michelle Burke (Mike) of Parker, CO, Denise Wittrig (Craig) of Topeka, IN., Sharon Werner (Brian) of Richfield Springs, NY, six grandchildren, two great-granddaughters; his brother C. Arthur Rolander Jr. (Millie) niece, Nancy Leroy (Bill) all of Chapel Hill, NC; nephews, C. Arthur Rolander III (Robyn) of Boulder. Stephen Rolander, (Laurie) of Raleigh, NC, several grandnephews and grandnieces, in-laws Jan Chramosta of Houston, TX and Ron Menard of Golden, CO.
