Robert ""Bob"" Schaeffer was the oldest of eight children. He served in the Army assigned to the U.S. Constabulary Tank Devision and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked at Gates Rubber company for 37 years Until he retired in 1991. Robert was not ready to retire so he began volunteering at the Jefferson County Schools as a PARA. He was also a volunteer for the Veterans Honor Guard at Ft. Logan Cemetary. Robert and his wife Louise were members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Denver for 48 years. Robert and Louise were also very active volunteers for the SWIC program in Denver CO. He loved to volunteer and help others.
Robert built his home for his family in Morrison CO where he passed away. Robert and his wife Louise were married 58 years prior to her passing and he loved her more and more each day. Robert would often talk to Louise as if she was still in the room. He loved to do anything that involved his family and especially his grandchildren. Robert also loved his two pug dogs Minnie Pearl and Daisy May. In his early years Robert obtained his pilot license and built airplanes. Robert not only built airplanes, he also built a sailboat and a canoe. When he could not build the life size ones he built model planes and rockets. He also owned a monkey named Chi Chi. Robert was an avid bike rider and would love to take long rides whether it was on a motorcycle or bicycle. Robert played the piano and spoke German as well.
He was a man of many talents.
Robert will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity to everyone. He could light up a room with his smile. He loved talking and visiting with anyone and would often spark up a conversation with a complete stranger. He was loved by all and will be missed tremendously.
