Robert ""Bob"" James Schreiner

March 9, 1949 — November 10, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert ""Bob"" James Schreiner announce his passing at the age of 69.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Donita and their children, Jennifer Luna and Jim (Timi) Schreiner. Bob will also be fondly remembered by their grandchildren Victor, Christian, Theresa, and Kristen and by their great-grandchildren Lexine, Elijah, and Leila.

He is survived by his brothers; Phil (Linda) Schreiner, Mike (Mary) Schreiner, Terry (Susie) Schreiner, Tom Schreiner, and Rex (Becky) Schreiner. Bob was predeceased by his brother Jay Schreiner and parents Warren and Vera Schreiner.

A native of Algona, IA, he was born March 9, 1949, to Warren Schreiner and Vera (Wilson) Schreiner. He married his high school sweetheart Donita Philby on May 23, 1969 in Blair, NE. Bob attended Iowa State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He began his career with FMC LinkBelt designing cranes for construction use. He began working for Alcoa Manufacturing in the mid 1980's. At Alcoa Bob designed ‘body makers', the machines used for the manufacture of aluminum cans with Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). At Alcoa bob received a patent for a Body Maker Apparatus in 1994 (U.S. Patent 5,335,532) and took disability retirement from the company in 1999.

The Rocky Mountains were a strong pull to get the Schreiner family to move to Colorado in 1978. He has spent 40 years living in Colorado and enjoyed the wonderful weather and scenery. He was an avid off-roader and enjoyed 4-wheeling with family and friends in the mountains of Colorado and Utah.

A Memorial Gathering in celebration of Bob will be held Sunday, November 18th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.

Memorial Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a cause close to the hearts of the family as Bob was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a teenager. http://www.jdrf.org
