Robert F. Smith, 88, passed away peacefully in Loveland, Colorado, on February 28, 2012. Born to Laura (Stockham) and Albert Smith on February 29, 1924, he is preceded in death by his wife, Norma, and his sisters and brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Debora (Hetrick), and son, Ronald Smith; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Born on the farm in Sedgewick, Colorado, Robert was valedictorian of his graduating high school class. He attended the University of Colorado 1942 - 43 before entering the Naval Reserves as an Apprentice Seaman on July 1, 1943. October 26, 1944, Robert was commissioned as an Ensign, serving on the U. S. S. Randall in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He met his wife in San Diego, California, marrying her in Ovid, Colorado on June 8, 1947. Returning to the University of Colorado in 1946, he received his B.S. in Pharmacy in 1948. He was a charter member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, Alpha Theta Chapter. Robert worked as a registered pharmacist, owning his own store (Modern Pharmacy) for 7 years. He worked for the Pharmaceutical Companies Eli Lilly and Sons, and E.R. Squibb and Associates in retail sales. After retiring to Loveland, Colorado in 1987, he and his wife enjoyed traveling around Colorado and the southwest with their trailer group. Snowbirds, they spent their winters in Arizona. A Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.
