Roberta Collier

Roberta “Bobbie” Collier passed from this earth on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born on October 31, 1929, with her twin brother, Robert Joe, to Joseph Isaac and Hilda Reichers Cox in Brush, Colorado. Hilda died in 1932 and Bobbie and her brother lived with various local relatives before her father remarried in 1934. Bobbie grew up on a farm in Hillrose, CO and graduated from Hillrose High School in 1947. She went on to attend college at Colorado A&M and graduated with a degree in Mathematics in 1951. On July 4, 1952 Bobbie married Walter Swackenberg. They settled in Arvada and had two children - Amy was born in 1958, and Todd in 1964. Bobbie loved reading to her children and playing games of all kinds. She stayed involved in the kids’ activities, serving as a Brownie leader, volleyball official, PTA president, and booster club president. She was her children's and grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader. She also had a long, fulfilling career putting her mathematics degree to use, working as a junior high school teacher, a bookkeeper and controller at various Credit Unions in the Denver area, as well as the Methodist Church. After Walter passed away in 1994, Bobbie continued to stay active in bridge groups, golf leagues, church activities, and traveling the world. She loved sports and participated whenever she got the chance. On January 25, 2005 she married her second husband, Charles Collier. They enjoyed continuing in their social activities and travels together for many more years. Bobbie always saw the humor in things. She had a strong, independent, determined spirit. She was a social person and always loved a party. Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Bob and sister Jeanette; her husbands, Walter and Charles; and her son-in-law, Dee. She is survived by her children: Amy and Todd; her grandchildren: Tonya, Samuel, Tara, Cory, Alex, Jodee, Andrea, Kendra, and Karysa; and 14 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held for Bobbie on March 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Horan & McConaty 7577 W. 80th Ave. Arvada, CO.
