""I am a child of God, a mother, a daughter, a friend, a cousin, and a lady. What I want out of life you cannot buy off a shelf. Love is for those who are not afraid to seek it. I have much love in my life. I am blessed in many ways and count those blessings everyday. Trust that you are where you are for a reason."" - Roberta Elaine Lopez. Also a sister, an auntie and grandmother. She had a way about her that no one I knew had. She could light up a room with her laugh, brighten up someone's life with a smile. She had a huge heart and touched many lives throughout her 46 years. She always said ""I'm Mom the Bomb⦠I was the bomb before the bomb was the bomb."" I remember when times got tough for her she just did her best to get through it all, and when she did she felt humbled, and even more blessed to have the people she had in her life. Through love of her family she would always manage to keep a smile on her face and fire in her heart. Everyday she took care of her mother till her mother was laid to rest. She taught us all many things throughout her life. Like how to be a good friend⦠a good mother⦠a good person. And people naturally wanted to be a good person when they were around her. Her advice was like gold. Her personality was unforgettable, and her heart was larger than life. Roberta loved the smell of roses and always paid attention to the smaller details in life. Such as not seeing her son Damion for a week and running into him at the supermarket and it brought tears of joy to her eyes. Or when her daughter Rachel came into the world, she felt so blessed they were inseparable from then on. Or whenever she saw her nieces and nephews her eyes lit up and nothing else in the world mattered. She would have long conversations with her sisters almost every day and together they thrived. She never took a day of her life for granted. She always called just to hear your voice and to make sure you were alright. She took care of her family, each and everyone of us. Whether you needed a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, or someone to just hug you and tell you she loved you⦠she was always one of those people you could count on to do just that. She was the one who helped her mother through her terrible cancer. From the day we found out about her mother's sickness, through the terrible ordeal of her suffering and death, Roberta stayed by her side, caring for her every need, and tending to her heartbroken father. After her mother died, Roberta continued as a constant companion and caretaker for her dad and the rest of the family, bringing love, warmth and comfort during the pain of the loss to the family. She was an exceptional daughter, sister, mother. auntie, cousin, grandmother and friend. She will be missed and she will always be in our hearts, souls, and thoughts.
