Robert A. "Bob" Thiede, Jr.

Robert Anson “Bob” Thiede Jr. was born on July 14, 1946 at Mercy Hospital in Denver, CO.  He is the oldest son to Robert Anson Thiede Sr. and Betty June Cook.  Bob passed in peace on December 10, 2020 at the age of 74 in Lone Tree, CO.  He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn, younger brother John Michael, younger sister Sandra Gates, five sons, Robert A. III, Jeffrey Michael, Brian Scott, Joseph Henry, Richard Lawrence, his two daughters Jami Engels and Suzanne Marie Shaffer, and 21 beautiful grandchildren Taylor Shaffer, Michael Shaffer, Dylan Thiede, Mikaella Thiede, Maggie Thiede, Zoe Thiede, Emily Thiede, Brandon Thiede, Kayla Hernandez, Chris Sass, Rebecca Cooper, Ethan Cooper, Lee Cooper, Aspen Morrow, Carmen Collier, Kayden Collier, Jordan Lopez, Isis Thiede, Madeline Thiede, Scotlynn Thiede, and Elliot Thiede.

Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964 and is a Vietnam Veteran having proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence with the Fighter Squadron VF-84 Jolly Rogers.  Upon his return to the U.S., Bob attended Metropolitan State College and shortly thereafter began pursuing what would turn out to be a lengthy and honorable career in law enforcement.  On September 1, 1967, he was sworn in as an officer with the Denver Police Department.  He would spend the next 45 years answering the call and serving his community as a patrol officer, detective, federal agent, police chief, county sheriff, and state investigator.

Being born and raised in Colorado, Bob was a proud native Coloradan who greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren.  He was a history buff, fan of poetry, a man of duty, and a cowboy at heart.  But above all, Bob was a loving brother, devoted husband, supportive father, and compassionate grandfather.  He will be missed, and we thank God for the time we had with him.

Bob’s life will be remembered and celebrated with a visitation service on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 12:00pm.  The chapel service will be the following day on Friday December 18, 2020 at 11:00am.  Services will be held at Horan & McConaty – 11150 East Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014.
