Robert Lee Martin II, aged 97 passed away February 8, 2023. He is survived by sons Robert Lee Martin III, John S Martin, daughter Marian L Martin, grand-daughter Tanya (Dana) Martin Yee, and great grandson, Jake Ryan Trefry. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Martin. He was born February 15, 1925 to Edgar Emory Martin and Gertrude Martin in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He served in World War II, as a Liaison Agent in the 7th Armored Division under General George Patton’s 3rd Army and General Bradley’s 1st Army from Normandy, France to the Baltic Sea. He was awarded numerous medals, including four Bronze Service Stars, plus a Bronze Star Medal for Heroic Achievements during the Battle of the Bulge.
He mustered out of the Army in January 1946 and enrolled into Missouri School of Mines in February 1946. Graduating in 1949 he worked as an Engineer for chemical and petroleum companies, including Shell Oil Company, Dow Chemical and Rockwell International at Rocky Flats. He retired in 1989 as a Vice President of Oil and Gas Operations for the Coors Energy Company.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 24 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3096 South Sheridan Blvd Denver, Colorado. The church service will be live streamed, please click the link below and enter the meeting ID and password.
