Robert Lincoln (“Bob”) Wright, 78, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Highlands Ranch.
Bob was born May 13, 1943 to Morris LeGrande and Dorothy Elva (Boyden) Wright in Glendive, Montana. Bob graduated from Wolf Point High School, where he participated in track, basketball, and band, becoming the first four-year letterman in WPHS history. A full-ride track scholarship would entice him to enroll at Montana State College, from which he graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Art. Shortly thereafter he attended the University of Denver, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design in 1966.
In February 1967, Bob married Adrienne Andrews, whom over their 25-year marriage engendered their love of travel, of various (mostly) outdoor leisure activities (i.e. skiing and tennis [B & A], golf[B], camping[A]), and their love for raising two obstreperous boys: Alex and Craig.
Bob married Susan Norwood in 1994, and, until her passing in February 2010, similarly indulged their joint travel passions, often with Susan’s youngest daughter, Lindsay, in tow. Their loving household was characterized by warm family gatherings, often including Lisa and Deana, Susan’s eldest two daughters, their respective husbands, and eventually a gaggle of grandchildren.
In late 2010, Bob met Carol Jantz and the two lived, cared for one another, and traveled inseparably until his untimely pandemic influenced death, of which he was preceded by his father, Morris; mother, Dorothy; wife, Susan and niece Debbie Brown.
In March 1967, Bob enlisted in the Army Reserves, trained at Fort Bragg, NC and at Fort Belvoir, VA, and primarily served the Rocky Mountain Arsenal until his honorable discharge in 1973. Bob worked the first half of a 47-year distinguished career as an interior designer; the second in commercial furnishings retail and installation, where his burgeoning enterprise was boosted on the inexpensive strong backs and drenching sweat of his children.
Susan inspired Bob to more avidly pursue his life-long passion for artistic expression, and, during which time, he even experimented with modern conveyances, i.e. jets perilously avoiding churches and ships seeming to float in thin air. His meticulously crafted architectural pencil renderings accented with the unforgiving and imprecise medium of watercolor against breathtaking backdrops remain his iconic trademark. These artistic gems are displayed in over 50 paintings that serve to romanticize his many travels.
Bob is survived by his sister, Jan Sexton; brother Carl (Cyndia) Wright; domestic partner, Carol Jantz; sons Alex Wright and Craig (Abby) Wright; stepdaughters Lisa (Dennis) Lopez, Deana (David) Bartholomew and Lindsay (JD) Flitner; many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
