Rodney Karl Broome

Rodney Karl Broome, age 73, passed away December 24, 2019 in Denver, Colorado.

Rod was born on June 19, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to parents Glassell Samuel Broome and Almadene Broome. Because of his father's career, Rod immediately began a series of relocations and attended 13 schools by 3rd grade. This early exposure to travelling ignited Rod's own passion for exploring the world and consequently, he worked in many interesting jobs in many locations around the world. His travels included Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands; Barter Island and Fox Main above the Arctic Circle working on the Dew Line; Limon, Granby and Denver in Colorado; Cairo, Egypt; and Kabul, Afghanistan.

From 1964 to 1967, Rod enlisted in the Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Unit and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Management from Regis College, as well as a Master's Degree in Telecommunications from the University of Denver.

Rod enjoyed a variety of pastimes including skiing, genealogy, travel, and he was an avid reader. He later enjoyed keeping in touch with his many friends and family members who were located around the world through Facebook.

Rod was pre-deceased by his brother Randy in 2018. He leaves his former wife of many years, Pat Broome, who remained his devoted friend.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:30am at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 E County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. Family and friends are invited to gather for refreshments directly after the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80236 at 2:15pm with full military honors.
