Roger Reed Carsten

April 15, 1939 — March 20, 2017

Roger Reed Carsten, resident of Denver, Co, passed away March 20, 2017. He was born April 15, 1939 and grew up on a farm in Beatrice, Nebraska, just south of Lincoln, Nebraska. Roger attended the University of Nebraska and later joined the Air Force. He enjoyed being in the service as a Crew Chief. He began his career in banking before moving into the mortgage lending field. Roger's love of baseball came from his father who pitched for the University of Nebraska and later in town teams. His Dad, brother Bruce and he would practice most nights outside pitching and hitting before dinner. Roger played in several leagues and finally was convinced to hang up his cleats after being hit by a softball in the forehead as well as injuring fingers. During the years he held several positions at Central Christian Church and the American Legion Post One, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Roger is preceded in death by Parents, Reed & Gertrude Carsten and Step-Daughter, Stacy Sellers. He is survived by Dee Carsten, his loving wife of 35 years; Son, James Carsten of Thornton, Colorado; Daughter Angela (Mike) McDonald of Omaha, Nebraska; Grandchildren Ian McDonald of Omaha, Nebraska, Kelsey McDonald of Omaha, NE, Danielle (Dylan) Schumacher of Waverly, Nebraska, Great-Grandchild Riylen Schumacher of Waverly, Nebraska; Brother Bruce (Barbara) Carsten of Cortland, NE; and many relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, 11:00 AM at Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 3690 Cherry Creek South Drive, Denver, Colorado 80209. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull, Nebraska at a later date. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ or the Tennyson Home for Children.
