Roger A. Halvorson

August 17, 1952 — May 17, 2015

My beloved Rog went to be with Jesus Sunday evening, May 17th about 7:30pm. He was found unresponsive in his room at the skilled nursing facility where he was sent to wean from the ventilator. He was transported immediately to the emergency room of a nearby hospital where they were unable to revive him. He had struggled for 8 months after suffering with a severe drug reaction during a simple procedure that was supposed to be overnight and back home. Although Roger's body was fragile and sensitive, he was the strongest man I have ever known. He loved his God and his family above all else and was always thinking of them and how to better their lives and support them. He stood with integrity and wore the ""belt of truth"" always, never told a lie ever no matter what as he felt so strongly about that. He was a deeply spiritual person from his birth I believe as his earliest memories of his mom were of her on her knees at his bedside praying for him every night. He had physical challenges all his life and overcame all of them consistently until this last round. Rog loved all animals and was very proud of what we had achieved raising our Adhonay's Labradoodles and being a part of furthering the Australian Labradoodle as a breed. He was a huge part of that program and loved all our dogs, loved his grand dogs and really all animals. He was very gifted with computers, was a graduate of diesel mechanic school and very gifted with mechanical issues, loved cooking and owned a family restaurant in Minnesota before I met him. Rog loved gardening and raised roses at one point in our Aurora home. Rog trained and competed with horses in his younger life in Minnesota and grew up and helped run his family's dairy farm there. He loved his John Deere tractor whom we affectionately called ""Johnny"" and he was kind and generous to a fault. He was one of a kind and is so very missed. Roger Alan Halvorson was born August 17th, 1952 to Peal and Walter Halvorson, was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, MN. He graduated from Madison High School in 1970 and later obtained an Associate degree in business/computer. His current home was Byers, Colorado. Roger and Sherri Halvorson were married June 13, 1993. Rog is survived by his wife, Sherri, daughter Kari and grandchildren Corian and Kricynda; son Cory; stepdaughter Lori and her husband Dave Asbury, stepson Brian and his wife Korri and grandchildren Kailyn and Emma; brother Charles Halvorson and wife Betty and their 3 sons Chad, Ryan and Eric and their families and his mother's sister, Violet Denesbeck. There will be a Service in Roger's honor on Friday, May 22, 2015 at One O'Clock in the Afternoon at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado. A reception will follow the service in the Horan & McConaty Reception Center. Please share your memories of Rog and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below.
