It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Douglas Kelton, age 83, who departed this world on April 13, 2025, at Highland Park Care and Rehab after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Roger was a beloved husband and father, whose life touched the hearts of many and whose legacy will endure for generations.
He was born on March 8,1942 in Henrietta, Texas. Since Roger was the youngest of seven, he grew up surrounded by family. From them he developed a deep love of God, attending church regularly from an early age. Roger displayed remarkable qualities of kindness, intelligence, and a passion for fixing things. These traits would define Roger's path throughout his life.
Roger first pursued a career in welding as it was a family business but was drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam. He served two tours before being discharged in 1969. He later joined the Air Force. He would retire from the military in 1990. He achieved both a Bachelor's and a Master’s degree in business. His love of repairing led him to home remodeling and painting as a second career. He made significant contributions and earned the respect and admiration of his clients.
Beyond professional achievements, Roger had a myriad of interests that brought fulfillment and happiness. From auto repair to feeding squirrels, he embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyment of acquiring new knowledge and experiences.
Roger's legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his principles. He taught us the importance of kindness, the value of hard work, and the power of community. As we mourn Roger's passing, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived, and the enduring mark left on all who knew him.
Family was the cornerstone of Roger’s existence. He cherished the time spent with loved ones, creating memories filled with joy, laughter, and love. Roger is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 54 years and 2 daughters Lori Kass Kelton and Kathy Ducharme, and 4 grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit and honor his memory.
A memorial service will be held at Family Worship Center 6395 S. Clarkson St, Centennial, Co 80121 on April 26, 2025, at 10:30 am, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Roger. The burial will be held Tuesday April 29, 2025, at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
