Roland D. Weaver

Roland D. Weaver, age 86, of Aurora, passed away December 26, 2011. Born in Grand Junction, Colorado on August 23, 1925 to Roy and Margaret Weaver. Roland is survived by two sons, Dean Weaver and his wife JoAnn and Michael Weaver and his wife Elaine. He is also survived by one grandson, Nathan Weaver. Preceding Roland in death is his wife of 56 years Joanne; and siblings Frances Parsons, Roy ""Bud"" Weaver, Norabelle Easley and Bonita Pippinger. Roland joined the Marines at age 17 and reenlisted in the Army where he served in the National Guard until retirement. After retirement he continued to stay active as a substitute ROTC Instructor for Denver Public Schools and volunteering for the American Red Cross. Roland is a lifetime member of the Elk Lodge, Grand Junction, Lodge 575. He enjoyed gambling, embarking on cruises, trips to Las Vegas and video poker. He also loved to golf even though golf did not love him. A Public Visitation for Roland will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 begining at 12:00 Noon. The visitation will conclude with the Recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., (at Parker Rd.) in Aurora. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 13120 E. Kentucky Ave., in Aurora. Burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery will conclude the services at 1:00 PM, on January 3, 2012, Staging Area A. Donations are suggested to the American Red Cross, 444 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203.
